I found that ours is really sensitive. A single touch sends it 4-5 degrees.
What’s going on with yours?

A popular upgrade is to replace the mechanical (mercury switch) thermostats with a digital thermostat. The digital thermostat will not have those 4-5 degree temperature extremes, but cycles a bot more often to maintain that smaller temp range. Here is a Coleman cross-reference to upgrade those mechanical thermostats: https://www.makariosrv.com/content/M...nt%20Guide.pdf

You Dometic AC will not work with a Coleman thermostat. The wiring configuration is different and they "speak a different language." Unfortunately the capacitive touch Dometic thermostat sucks. It is like pulling the handle on a slot machine every time you touch it, you never know what you are going to get. It might jump 4 degrees, switch to Celcius, turn on the furnace, etc. Since the control unit on the AC is Dometic, we are stuck with Dometic thermostats. We were using ours without the cover, but recently upgraded it to the same thermostat, but the one with Bluetooth. Now we don't ever touch the thermostat and use the phone to control the AC. The cool thing is that now we can control the AC from outside the RV or from the bedroom, without having to get up to gamble with the thermostat in the living area.

Coleman thermostat unable to use.

I unfortunately didn't do enough homework and purchased the RV Comfort Coleman-Mach 8330-386 that was mentioned on this blog site, but its 6.5 inches long and the space I have is 4.5 inches. Doing further research after the fact, I did purchase the wrong model to replace my analog and with the RVupgrade return policy, unable to return it as new because I slit the plastic package it was in. Please PM me if anyone is interested in procuring this really brand new thermostat for a discounted price.
