Thermostat bypass furnace to A/C

I have a jayco jay flight 32bhds travel trailer.

I want to bypass my furnace, just to operate the A/C.

I was told by a tech that the thermostat runs thru the furnace to the A/C.

Let me get this right... Your thermostat is set to AC, but the furnace comes on instead?

A little more info regarding what you are trying to accomplish would be helpful. I think you might need a new tech too.

You can always just remove the furnace fuse.

OK.. .. The thermostat runs thru the furnace than to the A/C. I want to remove my furnace and just run the A/C.

I doubt the thermostat wire runs thru the furnace and then to the a/c. The furnace and a/c are controlled by the same thermostat but different circuits are used for each device.

Are you trying to physically delete the furnace from the TT? If so, you should be able to simply remove it, tape or otherwise insulate any bare thermostat wires in the furnace compartment and be good to go. Unless you have some kind of non-standard cobbled together system.

Again, if you could provide information we could provide a more educated response. TT model, a/c model, furnace model, thermostat type. Anything would help.

I think more info is needed as to what you want to do before anyone can help you.

The AC and furnace are interlocked through the thermostat so only one can be operated at a time so no need to bypass the furnace at all. Just flip the switch on the thermostat from heat to cool.

I think there may be a bit of confusion about what the tech meant. The control power to the thermostat does come from the 12VDC supply to the furnace and turning off the 12VDC supply to your furnace at the main fuse panel will kill power to the thermostat as well as the furnace. When power to the thermostat is dead then neither the AC or the furnace will operate.

Depending on what series of furnace you have there will be an on/off switch/breaker on the furnace and the 12VDC to the thermostat comes off the secondary side of that switch.

Not all thermostats get their power via the furnace. However, without more detailed info who can tell?

Just curious, why do you want to remove your furnace?
