Thermostat Wiring Question

I'm in the process of converting the Coleman Mach 8 A/C in our Hummingbird from factory unit-mounted controls over to a wall thermostat control.

I've ordered the control panel (8330-752), a Coleman digital thermostat (9430-3382) and a new inside A/C cover (9430-4552).

I've read where some people are having problems with the voltage dropping out when feeding their Coleman t-stat from the existing 12V+ from the furnace.

Since I have to get a 12V- up to the t-stat, I've decided to just run a new fused 12V+ and 12V- directly from the battery to feed the new t-stat and controller.

I read somewhere that it's preferred to take the 12V+ directly off the converter, but physically getting from there to the t-stat would not be a fun project.

The only drawback that I can come up with for my plan is if we were on shore power and had the battery cut-off switch thrown we'd lose A/C and heat.....of course I can't imagine why that scenario would ever even happen. If the battery was dead I would replace it, and during that time if the cut-off switch was still turned on the converter would back feed the system with 12V+ if I left the t-stat wires connected to the battery terminal connectors (I think?).

Can anyone come up with a reasonable issue with feeding the thermostat 12VDC+/- directly from the battery?

Thanks.
