I purchased and installed TP entertainment seating (sofa config) and I expect they are pretty similar.
I’d suggest an extra set of hands would be handy, I was able to install/remove the backs myself but extra help removing would be a big plus.
You’ll need access to the back side. There are 2 spring latches (one on each side) roughly at the hinge level.
Our backs have a trim flap or “skirt” covering the hinge and latch that’s held down via Velcro. This skirt is the lower few inches of the covering on the back and pulls free fairly easy. Unfortunately when it’s free it hangs down and still hides the latches so it needs to be held or taped up and out of the way.
All the latch and related bits are painted black so a light will help you see.
The latches are simple flat pieces that capture a dimple on the mating piece.
From memory the latches face each other and need to be pried towards each other to release the dimple. Again from memory, there is a smallish finger-hold that will help you get a grip on each latch. A small screwdriver may help.
With both latches pulled have the second set of hands lift the seat back, with a bit of “encouragement” and wiggling it should lift free.
Installing them is easier, align the connecting pieces and push down.
I really hope this helps, I looked thru my pics of the install and couldn’t find any that would help and the seating is screwed in place where I can’t get to the back side.
