tires and wheels

There is a lot of talk about Rainiers tires and how bad they are. I have Rainiers st205/75 r14 on my 16 wh 28dsbh and have about 2000 miles on them and have not had any problems with them to date (knock on wood) and all i read about is how bad they are and should upgrade to either maxxis or goodyear. Also when upgrading go up a load size.
With the trips and distances (5000miles total) we have planned this year I started to look at new tires. I really don't want to have a problem 1000miles away from home.
Looking at the brands the only tire i can find by both maxxis and goodyear is load C that fit my wheels. In order for me to go up to load size to d, i need to go up an wheel size to 15in. My question is, is going up a load size really worth it? I would have to buy new rims plus tires. That wont be cheep. My dh is already breaking chops about wanting to spend 4-500 on tires let alone 3-400 more on rims.
Thanks

That is the same size tire that my trailer has. Search for 205/75 r14 on discount tire or any other tire site and you will find a few trailer tire options available in load range D including the new Goodyear. I don't believe you need new rims to move up to load range D.

Same here. I really considered replacing before we went from South Dakota to Florida last year. Had them since July 2015 bit I watch them carefully. I ballpark the trailer has a total of 13-15k on it now, and a few of those trips were long cross country. I keep it at 65 and probably will replace before we travel days from home again.

I have seen some Carlisle tires on a few posts that now have speed ratings up to 88 just FYI. Not that its good to go that fast but a little speed buffer would be nice and not be running the tires at near max speed all the time with the 65mph limit.

I put Carlisle HD's LRE on my trailer and I like them a lot.

We also have the same tire size and will be replacing them this spring. I want to go up a load size, but like you, only found a couple of options. 1 option is the new Goodyear Endurance, which may be great but is unproven. The 2nd option, which is what we are going with, is the Carlisle HD. They seem to get pretty good reviews, gets me into a load D tire, and I am going to get them installed for about $70/tire (balanced and with metal stems). The Goodyears seem to be hovering around the $100/tire mark. If you go up a load rating check to see if your wheels are rated to handle the increased tire pressure. I am told it is stamped on the inside of the rim but I couldn't find it on mine so I contacted Jayco directly and found out that way.
