tires for x17z

Hello! I've been reading these forums for a while, and finally have a question of my own.

My x17z (single axle) trailer is roughly 3300lbs. The tires the previous owner put on it are ST185/80 R13, radial tires, load rating C. Unfortunately their load capacity is 1480lbs each! So they are underrated for sure.

The trailer manual says ST 185/80R13, but I'm pretty sure it's bias ply tires (current radials have 50psi rating, whereas the manual says 65psi which matches bias ply ratings)

All that said, any tire recommendations for an x17z? It would be nice to get a L-speed rated tire too. A radial would be nice, but not sure if I can get a radial in this size (ST185/80 R13) with load D weight rating. Suggestions? (or is there an alternative/better tire size to go with?)

I have the same size tires. I installed Carlisle's Radial Trail RH, load range D (1700+ lbs), speed rate to 80+ mph. I have 500 miles so far and like them.

Always fill trailer tires to the maximum pressure shown on the tire, nothing less.

Thanks for the tip! I had not seen those tires. I'll see if I can find them locally (or at least in Canada!)

I will have to look at mine as well, i know they are rated for 62mph also. I believe the load capacity for them is the same, in the theory that you are putting X ammount of weight on the tongue of your vehicle and not the axle/tires. Still it is far too close to comfort and as soon as they wear out i will be putting beefier tires on as well.

I did not locate those tires until I spoke with Discount Tire, there is also another new tire from Carlisle in this size, load range D, I think it is called the HD, I could not find anything on their website.

thanks for the tips, folks. For anyone else looking in the Ottawa area (Canada), Frisby tire can get the Carlisle Radial Trail RH's.
