Todays additions...Propane tap-in with Genset conversion
My trailer came with a 3/8" line from the propane tanks to a manifold. This manifold had 4 lines coming off of it going to the stove, refridgerator, furnace, and water heater. It also had a 3/8" plug in the back presumably for an outdoor grill. This week the items came in for this addition. I removed the plug and installed a brass street elbow. From there I added a bushing and brought the size down to 1/4" to match the quick connect I had purchased. Ace Hardware only had a 5" nipple in 1/4" pipe thread so I went with that. It doesn't stick out very far from the frame but I can reach it fairly easily.
It is mostly for the CampChef I plan to get but I wanted to try my generator out that was given to me. Last summer my friend gave me his 7500 watt Titan that had a rusted carb and a rusted tank. I cleaned it up and ordered a new tank. While looking at the carb I decided to try a cheap tri-fuel carb from Amazon for $35. When it came in I bolted it on and hooked it up to my Natural Gas hookup in the garage. Started and ran fine. Never put much of a load on it, just enough to see if it put out power. I needed to get a fuel line and make sure the carb is tuned for gasoline if I ever need it but afraid that once I put fuel in it I will have to keep maintaining it. Well, today I pulled the hose barb off of it and installed the 1/4" quick connect fitting. It fired right up. After researching it I was kind of worried that the 1/4" fittings would not flow enough propane to run anything. I connected the electric from the camper to the generator and checked my numbers.
With the TV, Furnace, and microwave the camper voltage went down to 108. Once I got the Air Conditioner running the generator kicked up to 115 volts and Amperage was around 25ish i think. Never seemed to drag the generator down and the Progressive Industries remote never gave me any errors.
