Toilet Chems?

What do you put in the black tank once you have dumped it?

I use the GEO method. I'm debating throwing some Happy Camper into the mix b/c I've read great things about it.

Honestly, to date I use that gel stuff that you stick to the side of the toilet bowl so some goes down with every flush. I've noted, though, that after a few flushes it seems to dissolve down into the tank.

After emptying the tank, I use the back-flush until the water runs clear (as the manual advises). But I haven't considered whether to leave anything in the tank.

I do leave a little water in the bowl as an extra safety from bad smells going into the trailer, but so far haven't had any problems.

Note that I'm a newb, just got my trailer last fall. If I should do this differently, I'm all ears... interested in the experience of others.

a bit of water and then some chemical.. We' ve been told by our dealer not to be afraid to use water in the tank. Its our friend. One of the nastiest jobs is to get dried gunk off the walls as well as stuck tp.

He gave us a tip on adding ice cubes at the start of a travel day in the toilet and flush.. they jostle around and scrape off gunk

We are new with a virgin tank and have not actually tried this.

Both well used. Now up to 170 nights camping and 40,000 miles on the TT since purchase.

If the tank is virgin seriously consider reviewing my link on the GEO method. It really does work, and the 'science' behind it is practical and easy to grasp. I've used it for 2 years now.

After dumping, we put in a few gallons of water and 2 oz. of TST Orange. The trip home, and then back out again on the next trip sloshes everything around and breaks up any accumulation. But lots of water is the important part.
