Toilet trickle fills bowl

Hi.

I have a 2016 Jayco White Hawk 29REKS that currently has an unexpected trickle in the toilet. I wonder if you can speak to this in two questions please.

First, is this likely caused by a leak in the toilet? I have the fresh water tank only 2/3 full and not completely full. When I turn on the water pump, a trickle begins to fill the bowl unless I open the trap. The trickle begins after the pump being on for almost 30 seconds. This trickle will eventually fill the bowl, consume our fresh water faster, and fill the black tank sooner than usual unless we turn off the pump. Also, the pump energizes about every couple of minutes, which is more often than usual. I have never seen a trickle come from that round valve at the back of the rim before now.

Second, I wonder if I have a problem with the city water hookup. I have the two water connections near the water heater. I am believing the upper is for city water and the lower is the backfill for the black tank. Is that correct? Anyhow, when I connect to the top connector, no water is applied to the faucets. I had the impression that should be so, without the use of the water pump.

Could be a piece of debris in the valve, or a bad return spring on the mechanism. What happens if you lift up on the pedal?

Obviously the water shut off mechanism for the toilet is not working fully...I think you can take that apart by removing the pedal and see what's happening? Maybe the seal is gone/dried up and can be replaced or need to be cleaned? Goggle your toilet or see manual for more info and be prepared to replace the toilet just in case.
As far as the city connect goes, that should labelled, again see manual or ask goggle. Did you try both connections, what happens when you connect to the bottom one? You should hear something if its the black tank flush.

Then it't not sticking. Depending on what brand toilet you have there are numerous YouTube videos on how to replace the valve.

I had a similar problem. I just replaced the flush valve on the back of the toilet. New one cost about $20 from the "Rain Forest" company, and it took me about an hour to replace it. I had to remove the toilet to get to the back. It is easy to remove, mine only had two bolts holding it down. Be sure to cover the hole with something to keep from dropping anything into the tank.

Since your toilet valve isn't closing fully, the water pressure is dropping, and the pump will cycle to bring it back up. I agree with the above recommendation to replace (or have it replaced) the flush valve.

The city water connection puts direct water pressure to your plumbing, and no need to have the pump on. From what I see in the manual, the city water connection is white, and the black tank flush connection is black in color. If they're both the same color, and your black tank is empty and clean, open the dump valve and connect a hose to either one. If you're connected to the city fill port, nothing will come out. If you're indeed connected to the black tank flush and it's working correctly water will exit the dump discharge.

You can do the same kind of test using a faucet inside. If you have indeed connected the hose to the city water port, the faucet will work.

Did a 33 day trip to Nebraska one year and had a similar problem. Turned out to be low water pressure at campground. Pressure was so low water valve wouldn't shut off supply and would trickle into bowl almost overflowing. I managed to catch it and shut off incoming water. Never had or have had another problem again.

Had the same problem. Easy peasy remove the pedal and replace the valve inside. There are many vids on YouTube with in depth instructions

We had this happen due to overuse of a guests tp. it started to flood. I bought a battery powered water detector meant for sumps. We set it next to the stool on the wall side were you cant see it. Works great , very loud beep when water touches it. Otherwise make sure the seal is clean and the valve is not being held open by Foreign Matter
