Tongue jack plate

My 2016 Whitehawk 23MRB has an electric tongue jack which I love. Esp when I use it to lift the truck up a bit to take pressure off the equalizer bars. Then I watch this video and had some concerns. https://youtu.be/3TEWKGO_ujM

I checked out my unit and it seems to be worse than the one in the video. I will try to post a couple photos. I am out of warranty but may go by my dealer to have them look at it. I have a good friend who is very skilled at metal work so if I decide to fix it may do it at home. Anyone else have similar situation? If so what have you done?

What good does it do have the dealer look at it? You have a good friend who's skilled to fix your problem.

The overhead couplers had a double plate design. With underslung they us a 3/16" plate on top, which is not strong enough to carry the weight of the truck. Double the plate and you should be OK.

Lippert frames are of poor quality, another company which takes advantage of the masses.

Thanks for this thread. I also have a 23MRB and will look at the tongue jack plate tomorrow. Am planning a trip and this is one area I have not inspected.

I can't really tell from the ages, but, while connected the the tv, I would check to see if the bolts are tight. Next is the plate sitting on another framing member that forces the plate to be slightly tilted?

I see Mike changed the title of that video as it used to say "Voiding my Jayco warranty" or something like that. I sent him pictures of mine which is welded all the way around that plate. It's funny that you both have a Whitehawk and it's only welded in small segments.

My 2017 Jay Flight 28BHBE is an underslung coupler like the camper in the video. But mine has welds on the side of the jack plate as well as the front and rear edges. Looks like the WhiteHawk in the video is only welded on the front and rear edges.

I wouldn’t bother taking it to the dealer. I’d have your buddy fix it.

Get your buddy to fix it with a thicker plate. But I'd email and send pictures to Jayco. I know that it's out of warranty and they will not do anything but how are they supposed to know something is wrong unless someone tells them. Send them the pictures and I'd send the link to the YouTube video. Let um see it for themselves. Last thing Jayco wants is bad PR on Social media like that.

Interesting, Made me go out and look at my 2016 Jayflight 28RLS, my weld goes all the way around the plate. Wonder why the difference. did yours skip a step in the welding process?

Thanks for this. I own a 2017 Whitehawk. Went to look at mine and found that 3 corners were welded but the 4th corner, the weld wasn't completed and there is a crack in that space. Called the dealer and they said they would take care of it for me.
