Tongue tool box

Hey all

Just bought a ‘21 Jayco Jayflight Sox 174 Bh

Looking at storage space for a tool box. Anyone had any look adding a tool box to the front end tongue and placing the battery in there as well?

Any options?

Thanks everyone

Rob

I looked at several. A few of the PU boxes came close to the dimensions I was looking at, about 11”x11”x60” and a few probably would fit. Finally bought material to make one, that way I can ensure it fits in the available space without moving the propane tanks or hitch brackets. It a project I’ll get to later this summer.

I installed this one on my trailer. Got it on eBay a year ago around 120.00. Nothing special but it works. Like everything else they've gone up since then. It's 39" long. Aluminum.

Home depot has a 24 inch box in steel for about $30. But do you want your battery and tools in a steel box. Fumes will rust it out and probably whatever you put in there with the battery unless you have Lithium or AGM.

Yes, and it was pretty easy. I removed the factory battery tray and attached 1.25”x1/8” angle to support the weight of the dual 6v batteries I was installing. The box cameo from harbor freight. I added 3/8” wire glands to the bottom to route the wires up into the battery box without having to worry about chaffing. I turned the old battery tray rails into mud flap mounts.

Harbor freight sells a cheap one that fits its tight but fits had to move the key to side because of the lp tank

I used the same box as Crabman but mounted it on the rear as I am already at 125 pounds of tongue weight. I did weld a support structure to the frame so the weight wasn't entirely on the bumper...
