top window cracks

Hi everybody,

I am new here, thanks for accepting me.
I bought my trailer used (1 year old).

The first owner did a last check at camping world savannah but they overlooked a leakage at the top window.

So for me it was easy to find the leackage...FIRST RAIN DROP ;-)

Wanna know what do you guys think, is that normal to have such sun cracks after just 1 year? (bad quality?!)

How would you fix it?

Asked Jayco for support, they send me away since it looks like something hit the window/maintenance issue and I am second owner.

Thanks everybody

What you have circled would be a maintenance issue since the Owner's Manual says to inspect all the caulked areas at least every six months. It is an easy fix, buy a roll of ETERANABOND TAPE and cover all the caulking.

Welcome to JOF

In the case of a skylight dome crack, the root cause could be a number of possibilities, stone, tree branch, hail, stress crack due to poor installation, etc.. In any case, ideally the skylight dome should be replaced.

When it comes to the caulking.., the clock starts ticking as soon as the TT departs the factory. "ALL" caulked joints/seams should be inspected at least twice a year to stay ahead of moisture intrusion. 'Dicor self-leveling lap sealant' is a good choice for roof caulking applications.

thanks everybody

I cant see an issue with cauled areas.

I just see cracks in the window. I will stick to Bobs recommendation and replace the stuff.

Just disappointing how bad Jayco windows are...hopefully not in general!!!

thx

All the above is good information.

Check the roof, caulking and side wall joints atheist twice a year.

If the skylight is cracked order a new one. There fairly easy to install, hardest part is removing the old caulk.

Personally I would use eternabond when you install the new one. You will never have to check the caulk ever again.

Keep in mind the sun cooks plastic!
Even my 2 year old dome is turning color.
I dont know if there are higher quality replacements.

Screw it down and eternabond the joint where you see the caulking today.
