Right on ASTMedic. When the WD hitch is properly set up you put the truck on level ground. Measure from the top of the wheel well to the ground unloaded. Connect the trailer with WD hitch connected measure again. Both front and rear measurements will be less by the same amount and the trailer will be level. Keep making adjustments until this is true. You'll be glad you did.

air bags

2016 Sierra 1/2 ton - 27DSRL. I have airbags which are great to make sure truck is level and because trailer has no shocks it helps with bounce rebound. Usual run 30- 45 lbs depending on load in trailer ie water or not

I put Firestone ride right air bags on my 1/2 ton and they helped a lot. When we upgraded to a 3/4 ton Dodge, I had the Dodge air bag system put on. Whatever air bag system you put on, it will help. Personally if Dodge wouldn't of had a air bag system I would of went with the Firestone system. Good luck in your decision.

This isn't the way any of the hitch manufactures or Ford (and I'm guessing the other manufacturers) recommend to set up your hitch.

Trailer level yes.

You take the initial measurement of the front end of the TV. Hook up your trailer and remeasure. Hook up the bars of the WD hitch and you want to get the hitch to return the front end to either the same as the initial measurement or some recommended at least half way back to the initial front end measurement from the one taken loaded with no bars connected.

None are stating to load the front end to the point that the measurement is lower than the initial. My understanding is to not go heavier on the front end or it may change the geometry of the steering and potentially the handling of the TV.

I came across that video doing research for myself which led me to adding the Sumo Springs to my rear end. I debated those or the Timbrens, but most people reported a rough ride with the Timbrens. I love my Sumo Springs, the empty ride feels normal compared to before adding them and due to their progressive compression the ride while towing feels much more stable. I did have to adjust my WDH as adding the Sumos changed the loaded ride height, but after figuring that out I am happy as can be pulling my very large TT down the road. What I haven't done and need to do at some point is hit the Cat scales again just to confirm my numbers.
