towing jayco 32bhds
Ok, I know I would be at max limit on my 2016 Chevy 1500, 9100 and 1640 lb maximums, but, I leave at campground year round, but if I want to move to another place, could I pull it if it was completely empty, no more than once and about 100 miles, I want to upgrade from a 26bh, Thanks, also, dealer will deliver to campground if I purchase, trailer weighs about 7500 empty, 900 lb tounge weight

Welcome and congrats on the possible new rig!!!
Regarding towing the 32 with a 1500, the weights you listed are the "brochure" weights. Our '16 has an actual weight of just under 8k lbs as it rolled off the line, and the "brochure" dry tw does not include the weight of the propane tanks and a battery on the tongue. That adds ~160lbs to the tw.
Empty, I guess if you under the tw rating of the trucks receiver hitch, and there isn't anything else in the truck, maybe. But are you willing to completely empty the rig to move it? All blankets, towels, kitchen utinsels, etc??? That would definitely be a job in itself. I know what it's like trying to just load a new rig when you first get it, and it's a pain!!! Lol
What about the possibility of borrowing a 2500/250+ if you decide to move the rig?
Good luck deciding!!!

I pretty much completely empty it at the end of the season, even take the mattress toppers, but I do leave the kitchen crap, but it is mostly real cheap plastic stuff anyway, don't think i would be over 8k, and I hate to ask my friend who has a 2500, but this is a just in case question, before I spend all kinds of money

Here is the weight of our 32 as it rolled off the line. The only options ours has is:
Elite package (was a true option for '16), the hide a bed, the bumper mount grill, and the "living room" 32" tv. I did sell the grill, but also added the rear cargo hitch. Though the grill was not even half the weight of the hitch.
Remember that the battery adds ~50lbs also to the yellow sticker weight.

Our 32BHDS regularly sees a TW over 1200 lbs it is a very front heavy TT.
Could it be done ? Maybe but I could not recommend for sure.

Well,
I towed a 30 foot 1986 Wilderness Cimmaron with a 1985 Ford Bronco about 100 miles over a mountain pass with the Cimmaron empty.
I'd say it was doable.
Make sure to use a WDH.

thanks, after driving a semi for 35 years, I know I'm at the limit, this was just in case I ever found a better campground to stay at that is close to or on the lake, most likely I will never pull it, and if it really has a TW at 1200, with the wife and me, we would be at 1500 lbs, so not much less that the 1600 max, I know the 1500 isn't made for this much trailer, again thanks everyone
