Towing Mirrors

Good Afternoon all.

We recently purchased an X19H. I have a 2007 F150 and am in the throws of the internal conflict of do I purchase the clip on mirrors or purchase the telescoping models from the dealership ($$$$$) I have only pulled tent trailers before and have never had the need for them. I understand K Source makes a really nice clip on model . My mirrors, like my locks and windows are all manual ... (do I even really need them ????) All of our trips this year are going to be within the province (max 4 hours) .. Thoughts ??? I won't be travelling alone unless the wife decides it is time for me to leave for a while.

Regards All ....

I also tow with a 2007 f150 and yes you need tow mirrors as the standards dont give enough behind especially when backing. I went with the CIPA slip on model and love them. Literally takes 30 secs to put on or off. They are adjustable and i have no vibration in them. Got mine at camping world.

Nevermind. Thanks for the information. I have "special" side mirrors on my truck and have contacted CIPA directly to see if I can find a part. The 81800s do not fit on mine. Product reviews look great though

I also have the CIPA slip on model for my Avalanche. Really nice and as msnyder stated they go on and off easy and fast. I have not noticed any vibration either. I went to the CIPA website to check on the model then did the Amazon thing.

I have been going back and forth between the CIPA and FIT mirrors for my 2011 Silverado.
Anyone used the FIT models?

Check out the e-trailer mirrors! $50 shipped to your door. Tight fit but a bit of manipulation and they fit nicely! This was for a 2011 Sierra.

I used the fit models and they almost look fully stock. So far so good.

I got the K-Source from etrailer.com for my 2012 Sierra. They fit tight (DW can barely get them on or off) and they have some what I would call "significant" vibration. I haven't gotten into them yet to see if I can mitigate it some, but one day I'll get frustrated enough to do that. Also, the passenger side is pretty useless, I aim it at the tires so I can see if I have a blow out.

I probably should have a longer set, but I'm not there yet...

I bought the factory tow mirrors for my Tundra. I had CIPA mirrors on my Chevy. Night and day difference. I highly recommend telescoping mirrors over clip on.

X2 on the mirrors! we bit the bullet last year and changed our Ram mirrors for the extended heated towing mirrors. I would do it again. No regret.

Mirrors

GMC dealer quoted me 550.00 to install a pair of factory for my 2011 hd gmc. Bought a pair of bolt on with two set screws for each and a arm to adjust. Very little movement, takes a couple of mins to remove/install. Have about 7,000 miles with them, and am fully satisfied. They cost about a hundred. Didn't save any money, bought 450 worth of goodies for tt.

After having towed with clip on mirrors for a few years I decided to install the factory tow mirrors on my TV. What a difference, they cost more but are well worth it.

I have the CIPA mirrors as well. They install easy and fit tight to my tahoe OEM mirrors.

We used CIPA mirrors for 15 years on two different trucks. They are model specific and I had to buy another set. I found that when they would not stay adjusted that a piece of foam stuffed behind the mirror held it still and kept it in adjustment. We now have the nice factory mirrors on our Dodge and they really do the job.

I used the "strap-on" style mirrors for 10 years on my old TV/Trailer combo. What a pain to get adjusted! They vibrated like crazy, and every bump or truck going by on a 2-lane would through them out of position. I actually had two of them blow off on the highway. The clip-on type get good reviews, but weren't available for my vehicle. My F-150 came with the factory, telescoping electric mirrors and I absolutely love them! Much easier to adjust from inside the cab, and they stay where you put them. They're big, have both the flat and curved mirrors, so they completely eliminate blind spots. I will say that they are a bit cumbersome when not towing - even in the retracted position. But if you'll be towing much at all, there's nothing better! JMHO!

I have those ones as well. They work good but be careful you don't scratch the paint on the mirrors.
