TPMS - Help

Well..... it finally happened. After 4 years of camping, our second time around, and many miles towed without issue, I blew a tire while going to our son’s for Christmas. I run Goodyear Endurance and check air pressure before each tow.

Luckily, even though I did not see the failure, a fellow Jayco RV’r was behind me and pulled up beside me honking her horn and pointing. I got off the road and got stopped before I had any rim or trailer damage.

It scared me that I did not see the failure even though I have a good view of my trailer tires in my rear view mirror.

Bottom line, I am gonna bite the bullet and get a tire pressure monitoring system. There seem to be multiple choices and I’m looking for recommendations. I know there has been a thread on this before, but could not locate it.

Recommendations would be GREATLY appreciated.

You will get many opinions. Mine is also TST
click on the blue line in my sig and fill in the search term "TPMS preference"

You will have plenty of opinions and first hand experience.

Look on the TST web site for better prices.

The top two brands are TST or Eeztire, both work great. I have always used Eeztire and never had an issue.

You’ll hear a number of folks who have, and like, TireMinder as well. No, I don’t have any ...yet.

TST here. 10 years and going strong. I have 8 sensors and have had to replace 2 in the 10 years in service.

Contact Eric at technorv.com he can help you out. I bought a system from him. Be sure to get the repeater.

Yes, you'll get lots of opinions - here's mine...... I have a sub 100 dollar system from Amazon. It has a solar powered (also USB) display and 4 sensors. I put metal valve stems in the trailer tires on my 29RKS. I don't obsessively monitor tire pressures, all I wanted was an audible warning when I have a pressure drop or blowout. I do check actual pressures and temps before beginning towing, and during fuel stops, otherwise, the display sits in a tray on the dashboard. The audible warning is very loud, the tire pressures accurate and the distance between tire sensors and display unit 32', no need for a repeater on my unit. I will be replacing the tire sensor batteries this spring, but they have lasted three years. I didn't need to spend a lot of money to get me "basic" pressure monitoring, and my "budget" system has given me that.

I forgot to mention I would recommend getting a repeater. Mine worked great for almost a yr then all of a sudden was intermittent. I called the company an they asked if I had a repeater. I installed one at the bottom edge of the propane tank cover using an aluminum rivet an never had another issue again. Camper is 28ft plus tongue

TireMinder for me. I’ve had 2 dramatic tire failures and the TM alerted me quickly to both.

EEZ Tire for me. Initially I didn't get the repeater but ended up needing one. Just order one also if it doesn't come with the system.

My only advise from very limited knowledge on the subject is do not buy the cheap Chinese one. Your not saving any money, I already went through two that don't work well, and now finally decided to buy one that every other person in the world suggested to buy in the first place

I'll throw my hat in the ring for TireMinder also. Their customer service has been great the one time I needed to talk to some one and two years in has worked perfectly (with repeater)

Ditto on what Colby stated - TireMinder Smart TPMS is what I went with since it works with my smartphone, thus didn't have to have another monitor screen on my dashboard - easy install, works well so far the past 9 months...

That's precisely why I don't have that one. My smartphone is busy while we are on the road, tires pressures are worth a dedicated monitor IMO.
