Trailer at dealer - what services after around 2 yrs?

Hi,

I will be making an appointment for a service before my warranty expires in Aug 2018 (two locks in the pass through door are not working properly). It’s been approx. 10k towing miles, since I picked up the trailer in Indiana. What kind of service should I request at the same time (I am not DIY person), e.g. check brakes, repack the wheel bearings, etc.?

Thanks!

if it hasn't been done in two years, repacking the bearings and inspecting the brakes is a good idea.

Thanks! Just experienced what I only read over this forum - my local dealer is taking for service only trailers, which were purchased from them... until more less October.

I called one place with good reviews - they told me that replacement of the locks in the pass trough door should be half an hour and maybe 2x$25. So I figure that even if I need to pay for this, this would not be the end of the world.

I asked for the fee estimate for 4 wheels bearings repack - $525. Likely on the high end, correct?

It depends on the location as to cost. If you can find a dependable and knowledgeable rv tech, I would get the roof seams checked and re-caulked.

If you can find a local person that you can go to when needed. Down here there are many small rv places that do good work and are not associated with a brand. The shop rate around here is in the $90. an hour range.

I have had rv wheel bearings and brakes checked and repacked every other year and the last time it was about half that.

Our repak cost $125/tire. $500 total. I priced 3 places and all were real close.

Had a ranch hand on DD's ranch repack About $60. (And he's a good diesel mechanic for my 7.3!)
