I only grease it occasionally, may every two years. No scarring, no noise.

Would like to upgrade to a Straight Line in the future, I am not crazy about the performance of the set of friction sway bars I've installed, I would like to have the integrated cam style sway control.

Sorry for the late post to this thread, but what kind of grease do you use? I've seen responses with lithium grease, WD-40 etc. Just curious as to what everyone else uses. Also, how do you keep the ball clean after uncoupling? Every leaf and insect that touches it will gum it up. A Silo cup is a good idea but you'd need to secure it no?

Cut the top off of a disposable water bottle and it will be the perfect size to fit over the ball so you don’t end up with grease everywhere. 😬

Always greased the ball and wd hitches. Makes it easier to Un hitch and no squeaks from metal on metal. I bought one little jar of ball grease and used it 5 years I think.

After reading a few posts this thread could come up with some bad connotations. Otherwise never greased my ball don't think I need to.

Medal to medal. Let’s try to recount how many times this works out well with zero lubrication. Pick your method of lubrication, but not using anything is not using common sense.

Being fairly new to RVing I didn't grease my ball and had times where I had to shake it hard to get the ball to go into the cup. Then I took the RV into the shop and they greased the ball. Now I'll never make that mistake again.

Maybe I'll go trolling Auto-supply stores to see if one of them carries it.

Only in a towing related forum can we talk about whether you “grease” your ball and not get banned.

Not having to deal with the mess grease would leave I spray a little WD-40 once in a while on the ball but not religiously...

We use a beer can cozy. Perfect size and it stays on thru wind, rain, hurricanes etc...Of course we do grease frequently.

If anyone runs an Andersen No-Sway WD hitch I would advise to never apply any type of lubricant if you want it to operate correctly.
