Bouncing TT

I purchased a Valterra stabilizer prior to my camping trip last weekend. I was able to stabilize the rear end under the bumper. It helped when someone used the restroom in the rear of the trailer. It did nothing for the front, which bounces every time you move. I'm considering purchasing one for the front door area but height of the frame might be an issue. They come with one per box.
I guess I'm disappointed that it wobbles in the first place because I never experienced this problem with my prior travel trailer. I was noticing that where the bolts connect the stabilizer scissor jack to the frame there is some give that does not seem necessary but maybe there's a reason for it. If I tighten those bolts up will I mess anything up does anybody know? It does NOT appear that the bolts are loose but it appears that there is give that would allow it to move a little bit back and forth.

I have a Whitehawk 27rbok summit edition
Tuff shell
Glacier package

These can extend out to 17 inches. I use them on my trailer and they cut the bounce in half

Did you experience more issues with rocking side to side or front to back? I'm just curious because mine seems to rock from side to side more. How to do your stabilizer Jacks have any give to them from side to side? Mine do and I don't know if tightening the 4 bolts that hold them on will help. This is a brand new travel trailer by the way.

Also have found trailer is more stable if the jacks don't go down too far...try putting a thick block of wood under them.

Here is the link to the slide out stabilizers we purchased. These made all the difference for side to side movement.

Look online for Winfield stablizers. I put them on the back stabliizer jacks ( modified the jacks to accept the 3/8 inch bolts), did not want to cut into the insulation of the glacier package of the 27dsrl. These are the only ones I found that do not require you to mount to the frame. Work amazingly well!. Very little rock noticed after installation.

I use scissor jacks set in the middle for long stays. Otherwise, we just live with it. Hardly notice it. i guess that's why houses are built on foundations.

Thanks cekkk, the reason I asked is my Jayco rocks/bounces a lot and my traded travel trailer did not rock. Once I put the stabilizer jacks down it was stable.

There are folks here who know a lot about suspensions. Maybe they can point you to an area that might be causing excessive movement. I forget how long your rig is, if you said, but if the new one is longer, you may need more than the four stabilizers for comfort.

The ManStore (HF) has cheap scissor jacks.

Bounce is just part of the party folks. You can calm it down but you will never keep it from bouncing 100% until you build a foundation under it. Remember, you're in a box with a suspension and air filled tires. It's to be expected and is part of the RV life.

I just bough ta pair of these from Amazon. They are cheap(cost) and light in weight. So far at camp home they seem to help. Will try them camping next week

My 29 RLDS never feels real stable, so I guess the extra jacks will probably help. So I take it you need to put them on both sides?

Check out this thread. I made stabilizers out of 2x8 boards and they work great. Take about 80% of the wiggle and bounce out of the trailer. Also agree on the x-chocks. That helps with the tires moving.

Hi, I will pick-up my 27 DSLR this week and was wondering what is the the ground to frame height and the ground to slide-out height?

I sold my jacks with my last trailer (older/lower) and need new ones but I forgot to measure those two. My dealer is 50 miles away so it is not convenient and besides, I will by everything at lowes or home depot.

Thank you......

I added 2 more stabilizer to our 28BHBE. Got them at Harbor Freight and they are spec'd the same as the Lipperts, 24" max height and 5,000# each. Definitely made the trailer more stable but we do feel a little movement. Really only notice it in bed when one of us gets up to use bathroom.
