Trailer Covers

I have a 2000 Jayco TT. What is the difference between the trailer covers and what is recommended? Thank you.

I was wondering if my Harvey the RV C Class needs a full cover or just a roof cover?

So what I am looking at is: Do I buy a tarp from the hardware store to cover it during the winter? Or do I buy an expensive one out of a catalog. What is difference between these?

I use ADCO covers. They're good for 3 winters, sometimes 4. I tried a tarp many years ago and found the grommets and cordage rub and wear the RV finish.

A decent RV cover is easy to use and holds up 2 years max.


Considering the amount of damage rain, snow and especially ice can do, a cover is a worthwhile maintenance item.


$100 per year to keep ice out of the $2,500 A/C unit? Works for me!

I wouldn't use a tarp. They tend to rub the sides and corners, causing a sanded type of effect. Better to use a cover that's designed for weather and wind. They don't last long though...depending on your local weather. If you have rain spouts, be sure to use tennis balls. They keep the cover from ripping and tearing due to wind.

NO, you will have marks all over your RV if you use a tarp from the hardware store. I found that out from experience on a previous trailer.


I am going on my 4th year with one of these. I wash and wax my trailer before covering it for the winter and it looks great in the spring when I uncover it. Use tennis balls on the rain spouts to prevent the cover from tearing at the rain spouts.
