Trailer Tires Abnormal Wear
Does anyone have any ideas as to why my tires are wearing out on the inside edges prematurely? Have a 2010 22FB that we have traveled to California with twice. Last year I didn't notice any abnormal wear but this year I had to replace a tire at the left front position while in San Diego and now I notice that the right rear tire is wearing off on the inside. I have thought maybe it was due to crosswind action pushing the trailer sideways or axles that are not aligned properly. Am interested in opions. At $110 each it gets expensive when you only get 10000 miles on them.

Wheel bearing looose. Axle has hit something and out of alignment. Broken spring or center bolt broke making the axle move. You are right 110.00 is a lot of money. Hope you find out what is wrong.

My 15-inch tires pm my 4200lb loaded POPUP trailer also did good the first year and then started wearing funny only on one tire. It turned to be the tire balance weights were knocked off of the one wheel. I sorta know where that happened as well. I had to make five or six two weeks trips in a roll going down I59 between Gadsden and Fort Payne ALA where the concrete Interstate road was buckled every 8-feet for about fifty miles. There was no way to avoid the bouncing trailer behind me... I eventually had to replace my two trailer tires after that and it has been good since...
I am also not impressed at the 45 degree angle the shocks are mounted on my POPUP trailer as well but looking at alot of photos on line showing the shocks for POPUP trailers seems like this is not unusual to be this much of mounted angle...

In addition to the possibilities that Parcany mentions, it also could be a bent wheel or bent spindle from hitting something very hard.

I would suggest that you check the alignment. Take your TT to a truck shop or any place that does heavy duty suspension work. Afterwards, get your tires/wheels balanced. Good luck.

I agree with all the above but would add the following. A scale to see your loading habits. Possible that that rear corner or side is heavy and adding pressure to the tire. A belt could be broken from as mentioned above a hard hit. Too many vairables to conlude with one thing other than let a shop check into it for you.

Are your tires bias ply tires or radial? I had a 22ft layton trailer years ago that had bias ply tires that started wearing funny like you stated, I swapped them out for radial tires and all was well. I also thought bearings or something was bent but it was cheap tires.

You definately have a problem. The last time we had tire wear like that it was from a bent axle.

I too have a 22FB 2011. All four tires are showing wear on the inside. I am just less than 2 weeks out of warranty.
If it were a bent axle - why would both axles be bent?
I serviced the bearings.
That fact that all four are showing wear makes me think of alignment??
It is the poor Goodyear OEM tires.

I have read that "RV tire" mileage expectation is 9-12,000.

Per discount tire website ST tires are expected to run 5-10k miles. They also confirm what I have heard that they should be changed every 4 years.

Your two Iwoa to CA trips alone are 6k+ miles. Maybe time to consider LT tires for the distances you are putting on them.

I had a similar problem this summer the difference is my trailer was new but that's not to say you don't have the same problem. My post was on 7/17/13 on uneven tire wear. Dexter put the wrong axle size on our WhiteHawk. Since being repaired we have not had any issues. I know it's a shot in the dark but easy to prove.
