Trailer Wheels "Flexing"
I have to make some tight turns with my trailer to get it in and out of my driveway. When I do one of the wheels on one side or the other, depending on the turn direction, will flex a bit and be tilted in or out. At first I thought I had bent something and done some damage but I have been told it's nothing to worry about, they are supposed to do that on sharp turns, especially when backing up. That right? Doesn't appear to hurt anything and they are straight when I pull forward.

They are designed to flex. That is part of the reason you can not use car rims on a trailer.

Just don't leave it parked that way. Pull up and then back it to get the flex out when parked. The axles flex also on a tandem axle rig.

Thanks. It is a tandem trailer so depending on the turn and angle, only one of the wheels on a side seems to flex, at least to the degree I can notice. Good to know I'm not bending it or that something is not as it should be. These things creak and moan as you move around corners. I've gotten a bit used to it after a few times of moving it but the sound still gives me pause.

If you have torsion axles you may be seeing some flex from them also.

I don't believe it's the rims flexing if that's what your saying. They are solid steel or aluminum. It's a combo of the suspension and tires that flex...

The visual is that the tire and rim are tilted top to bottom. I don't believe the actual rim bends from what I see. Picture pushing the axle down in the middle which would cause the wheels to tilt inward. My takeaway from the replies is this is normal and no cause to think something is not mounted correctly or bending in a way it shouldn't.

Yes it's normal. It was weird to see at first for me too but it's ok. Like others have said, it's good to pull up and back once lined up to get the flex out....

I noticed the same with mine. It tows just fine and doesn't appear to have any alignment issues. It appears to be normal judging from the others that commented.

I doubt that the alum wheels flex.
