Transitioning stationary TT to be mobile.

I'm interested in buying a Jayco TT that has been stationary, on blocks, with its tires on since it was purchased new in 2007. It has also been exposed outdoors to Canadian winters since then. At the very least, I suspect the tires will need to be replaced before making it ready for travel...is there anything else I will need to check? Thanks.

While its still up on blocks, maybe hook up the electric and spin the tires around while someone hits the brakes and check them. Also listening for any noise that might indicate dry bearings. Look for rust underneath. Run the slide(s) in and out a few times.

Is it hooked up to water? You can run all the water check for leaks, just in case it wasn't winterized properly. When I looked at buying my current trailer, I turned on the water and found the kitchen faucet had split down the back. Water came spraying out all over. Easy fix. When I got it home and filled up the fresh water tank I discovered a leak from the water pump, again likely from not being winterized. Easy replacement just a little more costly. That leak was harder to trace.

If you have lots of trailer experience, get a ladder and start from the roof down. If not, get help, lots of problems can be hidden, that an old rv hand could know of and spot. Water leaks could end up costing more than what you will pay for the trailer.

Thanks for these good ideas...being new to this process, I will definitely have a technician look over the trailer before I buy. I understand maintenance on the tires, brakes, bearings etc can run up as high as $2,000 and of course water leaks can be even more costly to repair. I haven't been able to get a really good look at the roof because it is still snow covered. What parts I did see were dirty and stained...grey/black in spots. The caulking around most of the windows are also discoloured but not quite as much as the roof. Not sure if this represents a mold problem or just in need of a real good cleaning?

The tires are 7+ years old they have aged out anyways.. next expect to replace all the running gear.. brakes, drums, and bearings... possibly the spindles might be corroded too..

Look inside in cubby holes for signs of roof leaks. Go over all roof openings for places that need attention.
I am assuming you know that anything sitting there is going to take some $$$ to get on the road so if buying shoot low.
