Travel route suggestions SD to WY

Anyone advise on towing a T.T from Custer S.D. to Yellowstone. I see the bighorn National forest crossing has mountains elevations ranging from Buffalo (4640 Ft, to meadowlark lake (8,200 ft along rte 16. I would think rte 14 would be similar. My goal is to camp at wapiti & drive into Yellowstone with TV only.

When we went out several years ago we took 16 from Custer to I90. Got back on 16 at Buffalo over to 20, up to 14 and in through Cody where we stayed the night and then on to east entrance at Yellowstone. We had a 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 at the time with a JayFlight 26BH. Took it a little slower in the Bighorns but did fine, did see transmission temperatures 230-240 pulling up hill.
