Traveling with FULL Grey Tank?!?!

Sorry for the newbie questions.....in the event the dump station has a long line and you have the provisions to dump the grey water safety at another location or at your home, is it okay to travel with a full grey and partially full black tank?

Both are 39 gallon tanks, but they appear to be mounted a little differently under the RV than the standard white holding tanks (40 gallons each I believe)

Attached is my holding tanks secured with 1/4" flat bar straps. The grey and black tanks have more of an angled slide to secure them to the rig.

Just don't need any tanks falling off the rig if I opt to travel with them half full or better.

I have a 2018 26BH Jayco travel trailer.

Thanks.

It's not recommended.. A 40 gal tank has 320 lbs of water in it bouncing down the road..

I'm not one to counter Grumpy. However, how far is home? I've camped in National Forest Service Lands and needed to drive 25 miles to the nearest dump station. So if home is less than 25 miles I can say I've done that. Also, fifty miles of paved two lane is different than 10 miles of washboard.

Finally, check your ratings. You are adding a lot of weight.

You're not countering me at all. All I said was it's not recommended, I think it's even in the owner's manual.

I wouldn't say it's OK (see above, that's a lot of weight)... but not necessarily disastrous for a short ride.
We actually did it this last weekend...

I would have sworn that I emptied all the tanks after I flushed/cleaned at home, and all the displays showed empty, when we set off for a quick two days in our local state park. We didn't take showers (hey, it was only two days, I wasn't going to complain if she wasn't!) mostly ate off paper plates and saved the small amount of dishwashing to bring home, so very little went into the grey tank, mostly just handwashing and cup rinsing. However, when we came to the dump station, it took a very long time to drain, so it must have been close to full.

The lessons are .... yes, you could travel with the tank full ... but I wouldn't go too far, or on any bumpy roads.
... and never trust the cheap sensors/displays that Jayco use to pinch a penny or two.

If in doubt... dump ! :-)

Thanks everyone.....I was just curious about the way the black & grey tanks were mounted underneath as opposed to the extra weight. It seems as if you are allowed to carry 80 gallons of potable water for boondocking (approx. 640lbs), that would you could switch that weight to the black/grey tanks and get home.

However, in my RV, the black/grey are at the rear which I know is highly discouraged from adding unnecessary weight at the back of any RV.

Looks like I'll just have to wait in line at the dump station the next trip!

Not so much the extra weight, for some reason the fresh water tank is also attached better...

Gotcha....you've all convinced me! It won't happen again......granted I was close to home (25 miles of slow rolling), but still.....

Thank you!
