Are you asking for help? How about some pictures, make and year.

Most I have seen will call for tape patching if it is not to big.

But - damage to roof boards, penetrate to inside ceiling;
water intrusion ??

You can get a lot of help and suggestions but more information is need to really get you some good ideas.

Tarp the whole roof until you get it fixed. Even a little water coming through will stain inside ceiling or start damage.

To many variables to even guess...., only a call to, and visit by your insurance adjuster can truly answer your question.

I ordered a patch kit. No damage to plywood just two small rips. Didn't know if was worth filling insurance claim.

If it is not big, eternabond will make a great patch. If it was a big tear, then I would have the insurance pay for a sprayed on roof.
