Truck helpers timbrens

I looked on line there are two sets of timbrens recommended for my Ford F250. They are FR250SDF 6000 pound rating and an extreme duty set FRTT350F 8000 pound that could be used for the 250. Anyone with a 250 or truck that went with the heavy duty ones. Do you think there needed. I watched a video where they showed with and without the timbrens. They look like they would benefit any truck while towing a trailer

I bought the standard set on Amazon. I watched the price for several months when they got down to $169 I bought. I did my first trip this last weekend 400 miles with them they were great smoothed out the ride. And don't notice them when you are just driving. Took over and hour to take out the old bump stops 10 mins to put these on.

It the Timbren system appropriate for a 2006 Chevy 1500 4X4? Would a mechanic be able to install these?

Yes, you can put Timbrens on your Chevy. And yes, any good technician should be able to install them for you.

They are not hard to install. Just remove the OEM bump stops and add the Timbrens in their place. The 8000 lb ones are for trucks with truck campers or salt spreaders and that type of heavy stuff.

Yes , your right , I have installed the 600 pound rated one. They are super easy to install, took only 20 minutes. There is another thread on here about these, I have been posting on that one as well as other people.

So I am not surer about these timbrens on my 2008 Ford F250. Maybe other owners with an F250 had the same experience. This is what is happening I think. I installed the timbrens on my truck, finally towed the camper a distance from NY to PA. This was my first real tow with them. They handle the weight for sure, truck did not squat as bad. I was able to get more chain links on my weight distribution. Left on Friday morning. Load distributed through frame of truck good but I had some bad sway on the back of the truck. We stopped to eat and I put more weight on back of the truck by going from 3 chain links to one. Then we continued our trip. I had more bounce in the back less sway but still there. So I got to looking at the under side of my truck. My F250 where the timbrens rest on is a steel half moon, half cup cylinder shape. I think the weight sitting on these not flat surface but half round shape is causing my problem. I am thinking of removing them and see what happens. My truck is a 2008 Ford F250 FX4, diesel. Does anyone else have these half round steel pieces or experience this problem with the timbrens

They are the bump stops on the spring pack. They are for the factory jounce bumpers to make contact with. I work for Ford and can't understand for the life of me why they made them rounded off. Just doesn't make sense. Why not flat???

But anyhoo, not sure if that's what's causing they sway, but it may be.

May remove timbrens and have extra rear spring added. Not sure what to do.

I'm guessing they're round because of axle flex and roll, but not sure.

Hellwig Load Pro or other "Add-A-Leaf" might also help?

Edit: I had Roadmaster Active Suspension on my 1/2 Ton, and it was nice and helped a lot, but I don't know what they have for HD applications...

Buy a 5th wheel... We have a SD that I have towed our TT with and will never do it again because I was all over the road. As we speak, my sister and bil are using the SD pulling their 29L and he made a comment about a lot of sway. You see Ford super dutys all over pulling big campers and I cant believe its only ours that are producing bad sway. You hook up my folks 5th wheel to it and the truck pulls perfect, no sway or excessive bounce. Not sure what im doing wrong, but Ill stick to my Tahoe for towing a bumper pull.

On a side note, make sure you have the tires fully inflated. If they are soft, you may experiance some of the problems you have

I'm not sure why they are round ether and not flat. Makes no sense. I have new mitchellen on the truck with the pressure recommended on door. Not sure if I should take the timbrens off or not. Your right we can't be the only ford owners experiencing this. What year is your super duty. Do other year SD have these round bump stop stoppers.

Seems like most of the F-series super duty 4WD trucks I see out there have "saggy butts" towing trailers. I always just assumed that Ford designed the 4WD suspension with more emphasis on the suspension flex advantage to off-roading than to the support needed for heavy hauling. It's one of the reasons I didn't consider Fords when I was shopping for my 3/4T truck. This thread is interesting reading for sure.

Funny you should say that. Ford has a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) on low riding Super Duty's. Customers complaining how low the trucks dips, even with light loads. Huge fuss around here on it. The TSB says to replace the jounce plates, u-bolts, spacer plates and driveshaft! About a $2000 job...that YOU pay for if you want a higher "old school butt up" stance. Ridiculous.

The new Super Duty's sit higher. Ford must have listened.
