TV 12v via 7 pin

Battery on my new TT was dead (no shore power) so backed up my TV and plugged in the 7-pin and.... NOTHING. Power jack, slide, and LED lights did not work at all. Tried with and without the battery connected. Shouldn't the TT draw from the TV battery via the 7 pin to at least power an LED light?

Got home and tried the same with my old tent trailer with the dead battery and without. Nothing. Do I have a problem with the dedicated 12 volt from the TV? All other currents on the 7-pin seem to work fine.

On Ford with the tow packages there is a relay that is usually sitting in the bottom of the glove box that needs to be installed in the fuse box under the hood. It is never installed by the factory or dealer for some reason.
With FORD, not sure about other makes, you need to have the engine running for 12volts to be sent to the TT.

On my Ford pickup, there was a power supply relay that came with the truck but was not installed. Also, there is a Fuse in that circuit under the TV hood. I blew that fuse one time when I accidentally pinched the TV>TT cable.

With a dead TT battery and no TV power to the trailer, likely your breakaway brakes are not going to work.

If the currents on the connector work, did you consider the main fuse at the front of the trailer. Usually a 40 amp fuse located somewhere near the tongue.

Well some investigation tonight on the TV relay and fuse. Will also double check the TT fuse. Sounds like if... everything is correct the TV should at least power the lights on the travel trailer via the 7 pin. I realize the 7-pin is a light gauge wire but I was at least expecting it to power nor LED.

On a brand new 2008 Silverado I bought, it did not come with the fuse that energizes the 7 pin charge circuit. Look in the owners manual to see what position the fuse goes in and see if it's there. Also, the Silverado charge pin is only energized with the tow/haul button on or (I believe) the lights full on.

Here is some info on a later model Silverado. If I remember correctly, the wire wasn't even connected at the fuse box either: https://www.silveradosierra.com/elec...10.html#p36107
