Question TV in bedroom

What are most people using to attach the tv bracket to the wall. There is a spot on the wall telling where to attach the bracket. Do people use lag bolts, wood screws. The tv I am thinking about has a dvd player and I think weighs around 20 pounds I know whatever I use can't be to long, don't want them to go thru the wall and end up outside. Thanx in advance Ernie

The factory installed our tv with a bracket using wood screws. I know because I lowered our tv on the wall. I think you'll find there is a backing board in the wall where the bedroom tv mounts. You can probably find out by pressing on the wall board with your hand & fingers. If there is a backing board, the wood screws will be plenty strong.

My television bracket screw holes didn't match up with the size of the square sticker on the wall that marks the bracket location. I mounted mine higher up on the wall, using longer (about 2 inch) drywall screws. The screws go completely through the wall and into a board that the cabinet on the other side mounts onto.

My 22 inch TV weighs only about 9 pounds, so it's pretty light compared to yours.

I'll post pics later.

Here are the pics of my TV bracket attachment. Pic 1 shows where it's mounted on the bedroom side. Pic 2 (blurry, sorry) shows its position in relation to the cabinet on the opposite sidewall. Pic 3 shows the light colored board (1x1 pine) on the inside of the cabinet that I turned the bracket mounting screws into.

When I felt the wall under the mount location sticker it was very loose and flimsy. There was a stiff area about 6 inches above, where I assume the sticker should have been placed.

Since there are no outlets on the wall, I was confident that my mounting screws wouldn't hit a wire. And the bracket feels very secure the way I mounted it, too.

I used 1/4" x 1" lag screws.

The actual re-enforced area inside the wall is substantially larger than the sticker so the TV doesn't have to be mounted right over the sticker. It would be nice if Jayco would have been a little more clear on the actual dimensions and location of the re-enforcement though.

As flimsy as the wall feels under the sticker on my wall, I wonder what it's reinforced with? Cardboard? LOL
