Just upgraded my TV. Been thinking about a newer, more capable truck for a while. The last time my F250 6.0 diesel came out of the shop, it was $2500! DW said might be time. Found a 2015 F350 6.7 Dually, and went with that.

24 hours in a day, 24 beers in a case. Coincidence? I think not.

Just a follow-up to my earlier post...

We picked up our 28RLS Memorial Day weekend and drove it back to NY from south-central PA (~300 miles) with our 2012 F250 6.2L 3.73 regular cab truck with Equalizer hitch (1200 lbs bars). It handled the 7K+ lbs trailer very well. On a few of the very steepest grades encounter the cruise control on tow/haul mode dropped the tranny into 3rd gear and the engine revved at ~3.5K rpm. On moderate grades (4th or 5th gear) ~ 2.5K rpm and cruising on level roads (6ht gear) the normal was ~1.5K rpms. I got between 10 ~ 10.5 mpg.

There was never a problem with a lack of acceleration on entrance ramps or when passing. I never had to floor the accelerator to increase speed sufficiently and never felt I was in a situation where their wasn't sufficient power available.

This is a regular cab work truck so the ride would not be describe as plush by any means but as far as towing is concerned it gets the job done with a 7K ~ 8K lbs trailer without a lot of stress on the engine and transmission.

I had a 2010 F 150 to tow our new 2015 Jayco Whitehawk 28BHKS, 6610 lbs empty. The truck was rated to tow 9100 lbs. It did fine on the flat lands, but labored a bit going up hills and small mountains. I moved up to a 2012 F 350 (6.2 ltr gas), it was excellent at towing in all conditions and terrain. I traded it in on a new 2018 F250 to reap the benefits of the aluminum body (I live in the northeast) and I simply wanted a new truck! The new truck, like its predecessor (the F350) does a fine job of hauling the Whitehawk.

I have a 2016 f250 4x4 gas for work and it gets around 13mpg average without towing anything. Towing I would expect that to drop under 10mpg.

So...I drove the new truck to work today...155 miles round trip. I set the cruise @65mph. Had a tail wind going and a bit of a head wind when returning...averaged 17.5 going to work...there and back averaged 16.8 . Not unhappy with that. Will get better as time and miles go by. Just have to tinker and find the sweet spot. At 65mph it was turning 1750 rpm.

Just bought a 17 F250 6.7 and an 18 Jayco Octane T32H. It's 10,000lbs dry I think. Maybe around 12000 loaded. I made the mistake of getting a 3/4 instead of a 1 ton. This greatly reduced our 5th wheel options so we ended up with a 38' travel trailer but we love it so far. I did get a weight distribution hitch and put in helper bags. I also wish I had at least 3.73's. I have 4WD so that upgrade will run me 2k+ at this point. But it's my first superduty and first trailer and I feel like we did very well. However I only get maybe 18 on the highway without tow and 16 city. With tow maybe 12-14 mpg. The "9k option" does not pay you back in better gas mileage. However, even with 331's it has no problem towing my trailer, even loaded. Good luck with your 18 gasser. Im sure its plenty of truck for ya!
