Um... Am I missing a fuse?? 12DC not working, new battery
Hi all! We've just purchased our first trailer, a Jayflight Swift SLX 184bh for our family of four. I think it'll suit us great!
The seller purchased and had installed a new battery, however the lights aren't turning on. I've been researching and it sounds like there could be a lot to troubleshoot. I have one question first, that I'm hoping may provide the key!
Should there be, not one, but TWO 40amp fuses here for the Reverse battery protection fuse(s)???? Looks like there is a spot for one...

Check the wiring near the tongue as there is usually a main in-line fuse there as well. (in an enclosed case)

Are other 12V items working? (Refer, 12V radio etc. ?) Did you have power to the lights previously? Have you checked for a battery cut-off/disconnect switch?

The above is were I would start. You may or may not have a battery disconnect switch. Usually it is a red handled device. Jayco often places them inside the cargo hold, but not always, and it is possible the previous owner added one too. So you may need to look around. I have seen them outside on the tongue area too.
There is an important inline fuse, often it is very close to the battery, but sometime it is near the battery disconnect switch or where the 7 pin wire harness ties to the TT wiring.
As for the 40 amp fuse. I would need to double check. As I recall on my TT, they are both 30 amp fuses, but it has been years since I looked at it.
Also do you have a volt meter? If the battery was not disconnected, and not on shore power, the battery will be depleted within a few weeks by parasite power draws (IE, Co detector, radio, and other devices).

My old trailer's WFCO "30 Amp" converter came with a single 40 Amp fuse.
The second (empty) slot in your photo is not really a fuse holder.
See the difference here, between the fuse holders and the empty slot. Also see that the panel states itself "FUSE 40 AMPS" just above and to the left of the fuse panel.
BTW, congratulations on actually supplying a picture on this forum without prodding! That is a feat that is rarely accomplished on this forum.

My trailer has a battery disconnect in the front compartment. Maybe you accidently hit it while loading. Try connecting to shore power and see if the 12V devices work.

X2, i did not recognize this tiny "battery looking" thing as a "fuse". mine is on the outside on front of the trailer

Thanks Everyone!
I appreciate your quick helpful feedback. It was definitely the main in-line fuse as you first pointed me to. It took me some time to find an all-weather fuse holder replacement but am happy with our fix, and everything is back to working order!

Holy moly. Always hate seeing that a fuse failed to do exactly what a fuse is supposed to do.
