Underslung coupler, which wdh to get?

2008 Jayflight QBS29 with a 2017 f150 3.5ltt Ecoboost. What wdh to get. Also should I keep the trucks electronic sway control on or off?

Welcome! I have a Reese Dual Cam Straight line trunnion bar hitch. It provides weight distribution and anti sway. It does a fantastic job. If you check out the Etrailer site, you will find some good videos.

Enjoy!

I had an F150 with 3.5 L ecoboost. It was a short bed crew cab. Did not have maxtow. I used an equalizer wdh. Worked great. Wins awards every year for best wdh. I did NOT disable anti trailer sway in F150, I kept it on. Never had an issue. Proved to be very stable towing my whitehawk 27 dsrl.

Blue Ox SwapPro makes a great WDH and they have setups for underslung couplers.

Equalizer 4 point here..... leave anti-sway on it will only activate if the trailer sways out of range.. then stability control on the truck will take over.... it doesn’t work under normal tow conditions

I didn't find a 2008 29QBS.

A 2016 29QBS has a GVWR of 9,500lbs, thus a WDH rated at 1,400lbs would be an ideal match capable of supporting a loaded tongue weight at the GVWR (worse case condition). Figure a 29QBS with a loaded tongue weight in the 13% to 15% range of the TT's loaded gross weight.

A 1,200lb rated WDH would work, but TT loading would have to be consistent with the 1,200lb limitation.

Both the Equal-i-zer brand WDH and Reese Strait-Line WDH have integrated sway control and would be a good WDH recommendation.

Would the Reese Steadi-Flex work as well as the Reese Strait-Line?

The Reese Strait-Line would be an upgrade from the Steadi-Flex....., Strait-Line is also a 'pro-active' integrated sway control WDH...., much more effective with heavier/longer TT's.
