“Upgraded” to a 287BHS

Hello all.

Just a quick intro into what I’ve been up to...

First trailer was an 2015 X17Z hybrid. Loved it for 2 years before it became too small (read:grandkids)

Second trailer was a 2018 X23F hybrid. Loved it until a week ago when my wife decided to “look around”. (Danger Will Robinson!)

Found a used 287BHS at our local dealership which seemed to fit the bill. Traded in our X23F and we now have a bigger enclosed trailer. This enclosed trailer is more conducive to our new seasonal campsite which we stayed at first time this year.

This “new” trailer lacks a few things which I will miss, including a large ceiling exhaust fan, black water flush capabilities and, a nice Furrion entertainment system (this one has an IRV30 radio) with, surprisingly, no (apparent) external speakers. Hopefully these are things I quickly overlook as time goes by.

Any comments or experiences with this type of trailer are extremely welcomed!

Stay safe and healthy, my friends!

If you have a vent in the trailer adding a maxxair style fan is quite easy. (If you do not i believe i have seen a write up on this forum about adding one)Also adding a black tank flush is not too hard. I have added both to trailers in the past. Excellent opportunity for some mods. But I could be biased I love doing mods.

We bought a '21 287BHS this summer (our very first TT) and we love it. It has the black tank flush. We like the space, the floor plan, the 2 doors, and the extra-large shower.

Criticisms:
The queen bed is hard to make, given the 2 wardrobes over the nightstands, and it's a "short queen" mattress so not enough legroom. Thankfully I'm only 5'9" at best.

The external speakers (on the awning) are functional, but that's about it.

It has an iRV62 entertainment system, which I'm not fond of. We've relied on downloaded video and audio content; I bought an HDMI adaptor cable to connect to tv, and that works well.

The lighting could be better -- we are always going around and turning ceiling LEDs on or off (my adult daughter calls them the "nipple lights".)

But, hey, we've been out 4 times since August -- total of 17 nights -- and were sad to winterize it yesterday. Who knows -- maybe we'll upgrade in a few years, but it's working for us right now -- we love it.
