Wanna Be, Gonna Be, We are!

Officially owners of a Eagle 284BHBE.

We picked it up at a dealer about 100 miles away. Just a couple of minor issues found during PDI that were quickly fixed. Towing experience was really good, I think the trailer is a good match for the truck. Overall really happy with the quality of the trailer. We backyard camped last night and are off to the Okefenokee swamp next weekend.

Sweet setup, congrats!

What is the Eagle in comparison to the Jay Flight, a little more upper end? I ask because the name sounded so close to what our trailer is, and when I looked up the floor plan it is pretty much identical. Just curious what the main difference is.

Also, how are you liking the 6.4 Hemi for towing the trailer? I am looking to upgrade to a 3/4 ton Ram and am trying to justify not getting the cummins. This trailer is all I will ever be towing, and probably just a half dozen times a year more or less. The cummins does not seem like a worthwhile upgrade to me... not to mention I simply dont want a stinky diesel. Tell me it tows it like a dream!

Thanks everybody!

olyelr- The Eagle does bill itself as the next level up from Jay Flight as I understand it. As far as differences go, it seems like alot of the optional items that Jay Flights offer are standard on the Eagle- fiberglass, tv, aluminum rims, etc. The main difference I see in construction is that the Eagle has aluminum wall framing vs wood. We were about to order a fairly blinged out Jay Flight 28BHBE and decided to check out an Eagle and we loved the feel of it and were able to get it for only a few thousand more, so we went for it.

I really like the 6.4. I use it as a daily driver and only drive about 10 miles to work. I feel like I don't tow often or put on enough miles to justify the diesel. The 100 mile drive from North Georgia was really great. There were some decent hills and the engine didn't rev bad to keep it at 65. The ride felt very stable with good control. You can tell the difference vs a diesel accelerating 0-45, but it wasn't bad and I'm not looking to go drag racing. I am happy with the truck.

Hey Wannabe, nice rig. Congratulations. We just got back from Stone Mountain yesterday afternoon. Spent some time in Marietta at the Marietta Fish Market. Man, if a guy leaves there hungry it is his own fault! The Metro Cafe Diner in Stone Mountain was also great. We ate our way all around the mountain I do believe. Boy, was I glad to get back home safely to Dooly County, with only 1 red light in the whole danged county!

Congrats on your new rig. Nice that you can use it right away living in GA.

And I too was wondering about Eagle vs Jayflight - that got answered.

Cool! Yeah, we love Stone Mountain...lots of stuff to do, but have not camped there yet. We were going to try to go there for our first trip, but we opted to live dangerously and take a few hundred mile trip to Stephen Foster SP. We feel okay since we were able to camp out at home and learn/test all the systems. Looks like we'll be passing thru Dooly on the way!! I'm glad you were able to get in on some of the good eats the area has to offer, not so much on the traffic around town.
