Wanted: Ladder for 2018 242 BHSW

Does anyone have a suggestion for where to buy an external ladder? I bought a 242 BHSW this year, and want to install a ladder for getting up and cleaning the slide, sealing the roof, etc.

Any thoughts?

If your rig didn’t come with a ladder you probably shouldn’t add one. The trailers with ladders have extra material in the wall and roof for the ladder to attach to.

I agree with bluie5. You should check with Jayco to see if there is added support for the ladder. If you have the room, I would recommend just bringing your own ladder. The ladder on our current TT does not seem as well mounted as the ladder on our Greyhawk. The current ladder flexes even when the kids get on it and they are half my weight.

Agree. Guy from the dealer climbed up our ladder on the 23RB the other day. Sure seemed to flex where it joined the siding too much for my taste.

I've found that at my age and out of shapeness, I can't climb straight up the ladder now anyway. Back in my youth in the Navy, I could. I have a telescoping ladder that I will use to go up top when necessary at home. Haven't decided if I will carry it in the truck during our long trip out west.

Thanks for the responses. I finally got a call going with the MX team at our dealer, and they said the same as Bluie5. If it didn't come anchored for ladder, you don't want to try. He recommended the telescoping ladders available on amazon. That's the way I'll go.

Not looking to hijack this thread, but I was thinking about an add on ladder where the base of the ladder had a U shaped piece that fit over the bumper and was attached only at the top there by putting the bulk of the load on the bumper.

Anybody see anything like that?

Post 213 of my mod thread. Fat boy ladder bracing. Ladder doesn’t flex at all now. Done with aluminum tubing, plastic end caps and ss u-bolts. Not exactly what you’re referring to but similar concept of bumper support.

My rear bumper is only rated for 100 lbs. with my spare tire on that it only leaves about 50 lb left
Not sure you want to use that unless your bumper is reinforced with extra supports?

Well I can stand on my bumper and it doesn't move and I weigh in at 185 lbs. and
it's still there, hasn't moved at all. Most of the problems reported here are about bike racks on the bumper. It's the twisting and swaying of the bikes that causes the bumper to fail.
