Water heater heats a little but
I have a NEW 2018 Jayco FLight 29RK. I have had nothing but problems with it since I bought it 5 months ago. Just got it back from the dealer from getting several other items fixed and now the water heater will heat only a little of water and to luke warm then all cold water. Any advice on this - really don't want to travel another 5 hours to the dealer since mostly the answer I get is. Did you check your manual? Yes! Please any advice would be great.

Welcome to the Forum from Western New York State!
Are you running it on electric, gas or both? The first thing that comes to mind without knowing specifics, are the bypass valves all in the right configuration?

If you have an outside shower verify all faucet valves are off. I have heard of bypass valves being defective and really throwing you a curve when troubleshooting it. I would get a mobile tech to look at it before towing it 5 hours.
Even if you ate the cost, you would save on time and fuel.

Has it worked before...on both gas and electric? Norty 1 has the best idea if the water is warm, but not hot. If you slightly open the pressure relief valve is the water hot? Sounds like a simple problem....

Check the bypass valves. If not in the “non-bypass” position the hot will mix with the cold. The thermostat may also be defective. The over temp thermostat may be defective. Search YouTube for some diag vids.

Perform a test at your outside shower. Remove the sprayer head. A meat thermometer Will work great for this test. What is the ground water temperature before the test? With a empty 5 gal bucket and a stop watch (assistance is a good thing) turn the hot water only and start the stop watch. While monitoring the water temp fill the bucket.
What was the water temp at start and what was max temp? How long did it take to fill the bucket.
These parameter are critical in determining if your water heater has a problem. Other areas might include. Mixing valves at any faucet adding cold to the hot. Inside shower head cutoff valve (in the handle) not full open. And, possibly low water pressure; (filters, weak pump discharge, city water low press)

How much hot water are you getting? Most RV water heaters are only 6 gallon capacity and the recovery is slower than what you would get at home so with cold water coming into the tank as water is used the effective hot water would be 4-5 gallons at best.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I've just spent my first week in Colorado in my 2016 30' White Hawk and, also, couldn't figure out why I couldn't get hot water. So, I searched this thread and found what you all had to say. It was the bypass value....once I turned it to not mix with the cold...Voila...HOT water. This is after I spent my first week in a blizzard, frozen pipes because my extension cords where bad and all I wanted was a Hot shower. I did have one luke warm one. THANK YOU! I read a lot of your posts!
