Water Heater Question

I have a 2012 Jayco 29RLDS, when I get to where I'm going I turn on the water heater (with electric) and leave it on until I leave. I was talking with a friend and he said he doesn't leave his on all the time. He turns it on before he takes a shower or washes dishes. Is there any advantage either way?

This is one of those personal preference things. I turn mine on at set up and leave it on until time to leave. Advantage to one way or the other? I don't think there is.

Leaving it on electric would eat away at the 30 amps you would have to use for everything else you might want to. Which in the Spring/Fall/Winter might not be a big deal since you don't need your A/C. In the summer, I'd probably run it on propane to save the Amps for everything else. If you are propane averse as far as the water heater, turning it on only when you need it makes sense. I suppose.

Thanks for the replies. I have ran it with the air on and haven't had a problem but thank you for that information. It might come in handy in the future.

I turn mine on when I get there and shut it off when I leave. Most places I camp, the elec. is included in the daily fee so I dont worry about using up the kws.
I do turn the gas on after the electric has heated it up.The gas only kicks on when we start using alot of water and helps recover the temp faster.
But this year with way the price of propane has gone up, I may rethink that operation and just run the electric.

We do this, but I only turn the gas on in the evening shortly before DW showers, then I shower, then turn the gas off. Leaving the electric on from setup to takedown.
