We drink bottled water. We'll use the water from the tank to brush out teeth.

When we're at a campground, we fill the tank rather than hook up to their system. Less chance of a leak in our plumbing if it's never subjected to high pressure. We use the onboard 12v pump, exclusively, and turn it off when we're away.

We filter incoming water with a simple Camco filter.
That's exactly what I do

Just curious. Why would you use bleach for anything when it is a known carcinogen?

Because it's not:

https://sciencing.com/toxicity-house...ach-21461.html

And it kills all the little creepy crawlies in a water supply that can make you sick.

And your exposure to it should be minimal at worst. That's why you rinse thoroughly during this process.

I guess you've never drank city water, right or cleaned your white clothes in the washing machine? Ever swim in a backyard or community swimming pool?

This thread has been really helpful - we've got a 2019 X19H Hybrid, and are fulltime boondockers on our little spot of heaven in northern Ontario... We don't tow in and out. We have been adding well water weekly via 20 gal jugs to our freshwater tank and have only been using it for minor stuff inside - but last week when we arrived the freshwater from the tap was funky smelling.

I assume the wellwater is the culprit. Since we don't have access to freshwater in any kind of volume, I wonder if we could treat the system with bleach (liquid or tablets) and leave it? We don't drink it, nor bathe (that's what the lake is for!) but just use it inside for rinsing a coffee mug or wiping down the table etc. Would it be harmful to leave a low concentrate bleach solution in the tank?

No it would not be harmful but I would rinse the system if it was left for a significant time.

When we had a TT that was stationary, we kept the water tank full using 5 gallon jugs from home, and added an ounce or so of bleach for every 10 gallons we added in. It wasn't well water, but never had a problem for the duration of the season, and it sat full for about 6 months until we drained it for the winter.

You can have a sample of your well water tested at the local Cooperative Extension.

I read it as though you should use 1/4 cup of bleach for every 15 gallons.

Thats right. It is just mixed in a gallon container so that pure bleach does not harm the piping.
