Question Water pump issues

We have an 07 29BHS with a 53 gallon water tank. The pump will not provide decent flow until the tank is over 1/3 full. Prior to that I still seem to have air in the line. Is this common? It seems to make having a larger capacity tank useless......

Sounds like the pump is cavitating due to the suction tube not going all the way to the bottom of the tank. I would either install a longer piece of suction tubing ensuring it goes all the way to the bottom of the tank OR cut a tee into the tank low point drain and draw off that. My fresh water tank has a hose barb at the low point with a 1/2" tygon tube running to one of those cheap white plastic spigots mounted to the frame rail for draining the tank. Tee into that.

I love the idea of tapping into the low point drain for the pump pickup. My tank has a few gallons that will come out of the low point drain after the pump can pick up no more....

I see exactly what you are describing and makes a ton of sense !! I wonder why they don't do that right from the factory? it would be a lot simpler set-up !!
