Water pump Not priming

This is my first time ive taken this RV out and I can’t figure out if there’s a cutoff valve I’m missing. Today I flushed the antifreeze from the lines with city water and everything worked fine. Then I filled my fresh water tank and tried the water pump but it continually ran for about 10 seconds with nothing coming through the lines. I didn’t think anything about it, and pulled to the campsite. Tried it again and got the same thing. Can anybody tell me if there is a cutoff valve from the water tank to the pump and where is it located. Thanks in advance

What model travel trailer do you have? It will help us identify where the various valves, etc. are located on your unit.

While your looking to provide the info requested in post #2, there is a valve at or near most water pumps that is shut off when using the city water hookup. It should turn 90° and be inline (not perpendicular) with the water line it's attached to in order to be in the open position.

Being it is new and it is spring time, I bet the the winterizing valves at the pump are flipped to suck up antifreeze from a small tube and not directed to pick up from the FW tank.

Find your pump by following the noise. It will be hidden, behind a secured cover. Under a dinette bench or under a cabinet. Might need a number 2 square drive screw driver to get to it. Or you might have to lay on your belly, and look into a small access panel to see the valve(s). Mine has two valves one to shut off flow to the tank, and one to open the flow to the antifreeze hose. You may also have a single three way valve.

My pump is under the the frig, directly under the gravity fill port.

Good luck

Did you fill your water heater after you filled the water tank? With the pump running it will take 5-7 minutes to fill an empty water heater. Open a hot water faucet until a steady stream of water comes out.

That valve got me once, too. And I'm sure I'm not the only other one here. We're glad you're back in business.
