Question Water Pump Not Working

Hi Folks,

I put a brand new freshwater pump in my Skylark. I used the pump to winterize the camper. I went into the camper a couple of days ago and noticed that the switch for the water pump was on but the water pump was not running. I fear it is burned out. What are some other things I could check before I replace this brand new pump?

The first thing to look for is a blown 12 volt fuse, then check the wires for power to the pump. They're designed to run dry without any damage, but it may have run way too long. If those tests are positive, the pump may be dead. You can always bench test the pump with a 12 volt source to be sure.

Just a couple of thoughts. Are you plugged into shore power? If so check to see if you have power at the pump ( use a ohm meter or test light). Check your fuses. If your not on shore power check your battery charge. Do you have a battery cut off switch? If so is it in the off position? Is it just the water pump that’s not working? Back to check the fuses! Are your battery cables connected and clean? These are just a couple of things I would check. There are folks on this forum a lot sharper than me on electrical issues. I think you will get more ideas on this issue. Good luck

Try hooking city water to your unit and see if that will fix it.mine did the same thing and someone on this forum told me and it worked. They said it was airlocked.
