Water regulators

I was wondering who out there uses a water regulator and who does not. They said the plumbing in the travel trailers are very similar if not the same as house plumbing. If you use a regulator have you ever tried without it. I have used a regulator in both my travel trailers. If you dont use one have you had any plumbing issues. Do you get more pressure in the camper without one especially in the shower. I was wondering do we really need to use a regulator. I do and I have never tried without it, scared to blow apart any plumbing. what do you think. I use a 55 to 60 psi regulator, changed from a 40 to 50 psi and it made a diference.

I personally use one when I camp. Hi-Flow type. Never had a problem. I have witnessed what can happen when you apply too much pressure to an RV system.. Scared me into buying a reg.

I use a low-flow regulator. I didn't know there were different PSI ratings until after I bought it and used it a few times. It works okay, but I wish I had more pressure in the shower and at the kitchen sink. I'll eventually buy one of the higher PSI units when this one finally annoys me into it...

The pressure at our house is pretty high, and I've seen some pretty wild fluctuations at CGs, so that kind of scared me into it. Though I did go without it at home once when I first brought the trailer home and didn't have problems.

I don't use one, I have never used one and never had a problem. Yes the plumbing pipe used in rv's is the same as they use in a house. You will very seldom find water pressure greater than 60 - 65 psi. And the water lines and fittings are rated for 100 psi. Having said that the old rv's use to use cpvc piping that was brittle and could not take the pressure.

Ummmm, unless I'm missing something, this is not true. At least not in my house. My trailer uses flex line and my house uses solid PVC and copper. Can they take the same PSI? That I don't know, but I would doubt it.

So am I missing something?

Look at it like insurance. Only good for peace of mind until you need it. I have been in CG's that posted warnings to use a regulator cause the psi was over 90.

Not to interested in taking chances like that.

I have a gauge I purchased at Camping World. I always check the pressure before hooking up to water. If it is over 50 psi, I use a regulator, one of the high volume type.

I have a modified (added male and female hose fittings) 3/4" whole house regulator that is set at 50 psi. As was said previously, better safe than sorry.

My regulator is always attached to the female end of my hose. Better safe than sorry. I keep a spare in the supplies compartment.

XX3. Use a basic regulator like the kind you can get at WW. Have witnessed CG's having water systems that seem to be unregulated allowing extremely high pressures as a means of supplying enough pressure when the CG is full. In any regard, regulator's are cheap insurance since blowing out a water line in the RV creates a big mess and a bigger $$.

+1

That's just where it lives, then there's no way I can forget it. DW would NEVER forgive me if I busted a hose in her "chateau"!

The water pressure at our seasonal site is high so I always have a regulator on the water faucet end and buy a new one every year just to be safe. Would not be without one.

With us going to different parks all the time we have no idea what the pressure will be when we hookup. I'd rather be safe than sorry.

We do carry two with us, the dealer gave us one when we bought the trailer which is a standard one I guess. We also bought a high flow at Camping World which I really prefer along with the the Oxygenetics shower head.

Water regulator, water filter, L-fitting all hooked up to the hose and ready to go... Just went last weekend to a local state park.. Had more than enough pressure inside and the water filter made the water tasty...

I bought all my potable water hose, filter, regulator from the RV Water Filter Store. The dual canister filter setup incorporates a Watts 263A adjustable 'whole house' regulator. Pricier setup, but have used it for going on 6 years, no problems and no problems with excessive pressure in either of the RV's we have owned.
