water tank strap missing

One of the straps holding one of my fresh water tanks is missing. I wonder if Jayco will send me the strap so I don't have to take it in?

It's worth a phone call to find out.

With such an obvious oversight on Jayco's part, I'd push them to send someone to your home to do the work. Don't know if it would happen, but that's ridiculous.

And check the tank closely for problems. Looks like it's been stressed due to the lack of support. I'd try real hard to have them replace that too.

Bill,

I could be mistaken, but looking close at the pics there appears to be a straight witness mark along the belly of the tank that implies that a strap was once there.

Yes, the strap was there when I bought it. It sits all summer at my campsite. I brought it home (40 miles) and I thought I heard a noise about 10 miles into the ride. The tanks were empty. Those straps are only held on with self-tapping screws. I'm thinking of reinforcing them with nuts & bolts. My campsite is dry so I always have water in the tanks while camping.

BTW: I love the 90 gallon capacity!

I would remove all the self taping bolts and use good bolts with nylock nuts.

this is what started to happen to my 28bhs its like the self-tapping screws heads came off you would think they would come up with a better way of securing them to the trailer so this doesn't happen

Perhaps this is an issue with the new for 2011 double tank system, 2010 and earlier used a single 53 gallon tank on the 28 BHS and I have not heard of any strap issues with them. Mine look OK but I will watch the bolts.

I was thinking of redoing the straps with grade 8 nuts & bolts.

One of mine fell off too. 2007 19ft. The dealer replaced it but said they are much to weak to do any real good if the tank came loose. FYI
