Water Tank Treatment

Is it best to add treatment chemicals to your tanks (freshwater/black/grey) when tanks are empty, full or 1/2 way? Thanks!

You should add the chemicals after you dump the tanks, but not into a dry tank. You will want a gallon or more (depends on the tank size) in the tank to dilute the chemicals. I don't add anything to my fresh water tank. If you wait to add chemicals to the tanks the waste will not have time to break down, and the smell can become very nasty.

I agree with tlhdoc...a packet and a gallon of water after dumping.

I add a packet to my grey tank once or twice a season just to keep it fresh. I don't know if it helps but I am pretty sure it does not hurt.

None of the above.

Add no chemicals to the fresh water tank. Add whatever chemicals to only the grey and black waster tanks per the instructions on the container for the chemicals. Typically you will dump the contents so that the tank is empty, then you will add the correct amount of chemical for the size of tanks in question then dissolve/dilute the chemicals with maybe a gallon our two of water. Done.

Oh and never leave the holding tanks dry/empty. Always leave them prepped.

Good catch. I did not notice the reference to the fresh water tank.

Read this: https://sites.google.com/site/cbruni/ . Try it and save yourself many $$$ over your lifetime on chemicals. If it does not work or you don't like it, just go back to what works.

This works for me for years.
