WDH Hitch Question?
Considering a new WDH in the near future based on my issues with my current one. Most of you have read my other thread. Some of you have recommended the Equalizer 4point, Reese SC, Husky, and I also liked Eaz Lift Recurve R6 (based on my ground clearance problem) and others. I notice that they are all in the same ball park price wise. Here's my next question....which one will be the least noisy?

Just curious but why does it matter? They all make noise while driving slowly thru the campground and none make noise going down the highway.

The Blue Ox WDH does not make noises. Well I have never had mine make noise... It's a great setup.

Have you greased your spring bars? There's a zerk fitting on the side of the hitch head for that purpose. Have you put some kind of lube on your hitch ball?

Unfortunately the noise is something you will need to get used to.
I have read great things about the ones you listed. All work very well. A couple small things I have read about the Centerline is you generally need to be in almost a straight line when hooking up or unhooking the wd bars. And it is heavy, by most have some weight to them.
A member (Rosco) over on GM-Trucks.com (and RV.net) has the R6, and it sounds like a pretty good system.
Good luck!

I sprayed white lithium grease on all you mention. The sway bar makes the most noise but we are not supposed to grease that, correct? Should I try some white lithium grease in a tube instead?

The majority of the noise is probably from the side mounted sway bar. Can't grease that unless you want to defeat the benefits of the sway control.
Tube grease will probably last a little longer on the bar sockets, can try that. You should wipe the old off, and re-grease each trip. Helps prevent any dirt that gets in the grease from doing damage over time.

WD hitch +sway control +turns = noise.
You need to grease the zerks to prevent excessive wear between the spring bars and the hitch head. Noise is the nature of the beast. If you can't get used to it you will likely need to consider a 5th wheel or motorhome.

The Blue OX Sway Pro does NOT make any noise. I've had many types of WDH and sway control over the last 30+ years, none were quiet except for the Blue Ox and you will not get grease on your clothes from the Blue Ox when hooking/unhooking.
Also Made in the USA.

X2
Been using mine for over two years. It's a great and quiet setup. The new trailer is an underslung coupler so I will be buying a new Blue Ox WDH designed for underslung couplers....

WDH Hitch Question?
I bet it's noiseless. No way I'd take that over a Blue Ox. Just not as solid a setup.... And if you are worried about your wdh setup's weight, you need a bigger tow vehicle with more payload.

Worked fine for two trailers and three years. Best handling lash-up I have ever had.
Not to argue SouthCo, but as I cannot speak well or bad of the Blue Ox setup without trying it, why do you state the Andersen is not "as solid a setup"? Have you any experience with the Andersen?

The torque on the a frame mount must be a lot to try and use a chain to apply down force on the front of the tow vehicle. Murff no offense was meant. Your original post didn't say you used it. Lots of people post without first hand experience. So if you use it and like it that is another good option along with the Blue Ox that is in fact quiet.

No problem and no offense taken. The Andersen is in my sig line with my TV & TT. With my tow rig on the edge of the payload, I like that the Andersen only weighs 60 pounds.
I have used an EZ Lift, and both versions of the Reese Dual Cam. If my trailer was more than 30 feet or weighing more than 10,000 lbs, I think I would use something a bit beefier than the Andersen.

I can't see sig lines on my phone with TapaTalk. I assumed it wasn't the best on a bigger camper and I appreciate your honest opinion. But you agree that noise isn't a necessary factor in wdh hitches with sway control. Thank you. Thanks for the honest feedback sir.
We all benefit from honest feedback....
