Thinking about a portable onethat will scan and pick up weather alerts while out of the home area. We turn our phones off at night while sleeping. Only want noaa station scan. Any suggestions?

I have the Cobra 38 WXST which is a portable 40 channel CB radio and 9 channel NOAA weather radio. Can be operated on AAA batteries or 12 volt. It has a power saver feature with weather alert. I bought it 2 years ago at a TA Truck stop as an impulse buy, around $40.00 at the time. I use it all the time while camping.

Bought one of these a few years back, it will alert you of severe weather near by, can also just listen to local NOAA weather forecast. https://www.amazon.com/Midland-WR120...r%2Bradio&th=1

Midland makes a good.one that let's you select State & County. You can also turn off many events that you don't need notifications for. We like it since we can make it area specific.

WR120EZ is the model#

Sundancer won...

We have a Midland that is commonly available even in grocery stores. It was a hot item years ago. Now we don't even carry it camping.

That's the problem with a generic weather radio. You get alerts for all counties covered by that NOAA center. If you don't know what county your in how do you know whether you're affected?

I keep a Midland ER310 in the trailer. Has multiple power sources including hand-crank, solar power or USB for recharging the Lithium Ion battery or can use AA batteries. It seems to work well most places that we go.

Not overthinking, but it's usually very easy to find the county you're staying in. Many CG's even list the county on their site map.

Have NOAA weather app on my phone and it picks up local wether alerts, sometimes I will be on the train going to work and every time I enter a new town I get an alert for that specific area so I know it works.
