weight distribution hitch
I just bought a 2013 33BHTS TT. I am new to travel trailers as I have had a Jayco 27.5 BHS fiver for the last 7 years. I was wondering what does everybody do with their weight distributing bars and sway bar after unhooking from the trailer? Is this a high theft item? Should I leave them out?
Do you put them in the camper? Any advice would be appreciated.

We store ours locked in the bed of the truck (hard top locked). Our opinion is anything you leave out is open for theft so you may as well lock what you can up.

I put a 1 by 4 on floor of my front storage compartment so that when I stow them in there they wont scratch the floor. I did not screw the 1 by 4 to the floor or anything just laying in there. This allows me to grab a hold of one end and let the other end drag out of the compartment when I go to get it the next time I need it. That 33 BHTS is a monster, Enjoy!

I've seen a lot of people at CG's put them under their trailers. I'm with campingdog, I put mine in the bed of my truck locked away under my tonneau cover.

Weekend trips, they stay on the ground under the A Frame. Longer trips and while in storage they are in the front pass through. I attached a couple piece of 2" PVC to the top and slide them in there to keep them off the floor.

weight distribution hitch
I see them out, but lock mine up. If it disappears, I can't get home. Not worth the aggravation.

I did the same thing when I had my Jayco. The door on my current trailer are too small for me to get into to do it again or I would. It's a great system and keeps clutter off the floor. Now I just put the hitch and the bars in the front pass-through. I realize anyone can pop the door open, but my two Yorkies will have me up before they can pull the first item out of the compartment.

I have a small diamond plate tool box mounted on my a frame between the LP tanks and trailer body. I put them in there while stored or at a CG. I also have the battery mounted in there and keep other odds and ends in there. Very helpful storage space.

anyone use something (other than a bag) to keep the grease from getting all over while in storage?

I installed hooks in my front pass through storage compartment and whenever the w/d bars are not needed that is where they reside. I also have enough room in there for the hitch.

Some people use a gun case to keep them in.. We just got a new Straight line so we will be stowing them under the bed..

I bag mine and lock them in the pass thru storage unless we are camping at a friends place.

I always kept mine in my pass through storage back when I had a WDH (last 2 hitches have been a Hensley Arror and currently using a ProPride). I did this because I don't like stuff lying around and less of a chance of things walking off. I'm a bit of an organization freak as well.
Also, with the prices of scrap metal going up, I surely wouldn't leave them out.

Get a Hensley Arrow or a ProPride and you can leave them on the hitch. The hitch stays on the tongue so all there is to stow is a stinger that is easily put away. Just a thought FWIW!

Its a very expensive hitch just to avoid the issue of storing bars. Obviously, I think very highly of both hitches, but would only recommend them if you have a bigger TT, a TV that is towards the top of its limits, or someone who just wants the peace of mind of having the best hitch you can get.

That is a good idea!!!! The WDH are pretty heavy. Where did you secure them in the storage area?

I wrap mine together with (2) large velcro straps I made. When wrapped 2X around the bars, they lay about 1/4" off the floor and the grease doesnt transfer - Brian

It all depends where I am camping at, most often I lay them on the ground under the tongue, but if I am in a busy campground, I will put them in the storage area.
