Weight distribution system

Do any of you with a similar situation use a weight distribution system?

Thinking that my truck is way powerful enough to handle the trailer but I hear there's some good benefits of using a system.

What is the loaded weight of your trailer and the tongue weight of the trailer? Also what class hitch do you have on your truck? There should be a sticker on your hitch that gives you the limits with and without a weight distribution system.

If the "loaded" tongue weight of your Jay Feather 165 Sport (3,500 GVWR) exceeds the "Weight Carrying" limit stamped on your TV's receiver, then yes, a WDH is required and it will greatly enhance your towing experience when properly sized/installed/adjusted.

If your TV/TT combination doesn't require a WDH, I would still recommend installing a standard friction control sway bar.

Absolutely recommend the friction control sway bar. Try the set up out, and see if it tows OK. Then make your decision from there.

My diesel has enough capacity (dead hitch weight and towing capacity) to tow my Eagle without W/D, but I use it anyways because I like the idea of my front axle weights being returned to unhitched weight for any emergency maneuvers. I have driven both ways and unless I am making a low speed run at a cg (to dump the tanks on an extended stay, etc.) I always use W/D. Just my .02

Not many front kitchen TT's out there any more that one can stay below a TV receiver's Weight Carrying limit under loaded conditions.

You're right, GM really beefed up their hitch receivers on the 2011+ trucks, it is really solid. They are rated at 1,500 lbs with or without w/d. That being said, I am nowhere near max capacity with my current trailer.

Husky Centerline, really like it. I have a 2008 chevy 1500 truck and my trailer is 33'4" long and weighs between 5800 - 7500 lbs. I towed it from Kansas to California and back and never had a sway event or even a time when I felt nervous about towing it. Really makes a nice towing expirence.

Hi Jabawaki, we use a Reese 350 Mini-Lite WD ( see e-trailer.com ) on our Jay Feather 165 Sport. Been told that this TT has a very light frame with that being said it is very important to use the proper WD. Consult the experts at e-trailer they will give you all the info you need they are very helpful ! Good Luck young man

On a 1/2 ton pulling a 165 I'd just run a sway bar.
