Weird stuff happens

Took TT out of storage for 4 months & camped this week. Hooked up everything as usual but noticed the fresh tank filled up with water from the city water line? Overflowing in the am . I shut off water supply & started draining fresh water tank. Grey tank was empty? Went to you tube & found similar issue. Fix was to cut off city water supply, open drain on fresh water tank ,, turn on electric water pump & than run hot water faucets for 10-15 minutes. I actually drained most of the fresh water & ran faucet until air was spitting out. Shut off pump , closed tank drain . Opened city water supply & it fixed itself. All working as usual now. Supposedly there is a valve that gets stuck. Don’t have a clue where it is & or why the fix is what I did , but it works. Anyone know where this valve is located?

Odds are your backflow preventer valve was stuck open. Running the pump pulled out something or just loosened it up.

Here's a test to see if it is working now. Run the pump. If it stays running or runs occasionally with no draw it is leaking. If it re-fills your fresh water tank it is gone.

Ran the pump with some water in fresh tank & it held pressure . Pump stopped when faucet was shut so I assume it’s good now. The valve in question is inside the water pump I assume. I have the 4008 shureflo.

If it occurs again the kit is about 13$ and only a few screws to get it off and new one in.. If you can get access easily. There are youtubes to do it out there.

Seems like it happens after they sit for awhile. My guess is it dries out in there and after running it a few times the water “slicks” everything up again.

Looks like that would be the cause. Must be a rubber material that hardens up a bit? I looked at a schematic & it looks like simple parts are used. Pump said Hecho in Mexico so maybe Chinese rubber?

Not sure but why not open the fresh water drain valve to remove the water? Why run the pump dry?

Don't believe the tank / suction line / the pump suction strainer with that plastic cap / the pump itself is empty of water. The real wat to ensure antifreeze is in the fresh water is thru the city water fill.
