Try to relax and enjoy your first trip. There are lots of storms rolling across the area you are headed. Not bad but just lots of rain off and on.

After you get this one under the belt, you will know more about what to expect. Sounds like you are ready so enjoy!

Expect hot temps in SC after you come down from Gatlinburg into the Easley area.

Where in Gatlinburg? We're trying to find a place to camp near the Smokies. Pigeon Forge even.

Safe travels! Keep the greasy side down!

We were in Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge last summer. First time there, beautiful area. Stayed in a condo at around 3000 feet elevation. The drive up/down was a nail biter. Wife really did not like it.

We stayed at Camp LeConte a couple of years ago and would go back if in that area again. Sites were a little tight, but then so is everything in that area.

The area or the drive? That area is always crowded especially in the warmer weather. Beautiful though. We toured the Bush Bean Plant last time there, it was a great tour and a great lunch restaurant on the premises. Avoid busy hours.

The drive up to the condo my wife did not like. Steep roads, hill on one side, cliff on another. She wanted to ride in the back of our minivan, as if that would make it "safer". I told her she would just be the last one to hit the valley floor! Neat area. We will go back. But will very likely stay off the hills.

We stayed at Greenbrier Campground 2 years ago & loved it. It is best to go around Pigeon Forge to get to it - a lot of stop & go traffic in Pigeon Forge. There are quite a few campgrounds in Pigeon Forge and we have stayed at 2 of them but after Greenbrier, will definitely stay there again.
